We are an ambitious, research-driven university with a global outlook, committed to excellence in everything we do.  We are among the UK's top research universities in the latest Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2008).  Research activity rated as world-leading or internationally excellent was included in all of our 33 submissions to the RAE.

Our extensive network of expertise in Life Science and Medicine, Biological Sciences and Psychology, Engineering and Physical Sciences and Arts and Social Sciences successful generates over £63 million of externally funded research income per annum.
