Moredun Research Institute

Moredun Research Institute conducts world class scientific research to improve farm animal health and welfare through the prevention and control of infectious diseases of livestock. Our research is focused on diseases which impair animal welfare, undermine efficiency and threaten public health. Moredun also participates in the study of wildlife diseases especially where this involves wildlife and domestic animal interactions. Research support is provided by the proteomics facility and also through the disease surveillance testing services.

Moredun's commercial partner, Moredun Scientific, offers contract research for the animal health, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry to support the registration of a wide range of veterinary medicinal products. Moredun Scientific has experience in conducting studies to the appropriate regulatory requirements as requested by the client (GLP, GMP and GCPv). These studies can be split into three main categories: Efficacy, Safety and Analytical Pharmacology.

Genecom Ltd works with Moredun to combine technical, project and intellectual property management and the facilitation of seed capital to encourage links between industry and Moredun's scientists. The Genecom team works closely with Moredun and its commercial partners to address their specific requirements using the resources of the Institute.
