Interface was established in 2005 and has introduced over 708 businesses to academic partners.

Interface key stats: 

  • over 2123 enquiries received
  • over 1037 enquiries progressed to establishing capability and capacity
  • 250 company - academic collaborative projects initiated
  • 197 companies in discussion or negotiation with Universities and Research Institutes
  • 60% of organisations seeking expertise have not collaborated previously with academia
  • 80% of companies who have initiated projects have not previously worked with that academic partner
  • 60% of enquiries are from Scottish SME's
  • 15% of enquiries are from the rest of the UK and International organisations

Interface comprises over 26 partner Universities and Research Institutes within Scotland, each offering a wide breadth of expertise in many different areas.

 

Interface provides:

  • Business support: research and technology capabilities; contract research and collaboration; specialist expertise; access to equipment and facilities; consultancy; industrial placements; training, support and development; strategy, marketing & planning support.
  • Company benefits: new product/service; competitive advantage; job creation; economies of scale; increased sales; profit growth and improved turnover.

 

Interface has been awarded funding until 2013 from The Scottish Funding Council. Interface also receives financial support from the Scottish Government under the SEEKIT programme to support the participation of Research Institutes.
