Uan Wool is an Angus based, family run business producing and manufacturing pure 100% natural, luxury Scottish woollen cushion pads, pillows and bedding products.
They were seeking an academic group to assist in the technical development of the wool wadding required for their product prototypes.
With help from Interface, Uan Scotland, was successfully matched with Dr Lisa McIntyre from the School of Textiles and Design at Heriot-Watt University who had the crucial expertise in this field. This research project was funded by a £5k Scottish Funding Council Innovation Voucher.

Coast & Glen is a fish merchant who sells online subscriptions to a home delivered ‘Fishbox’.  Coast and Glen were looking for an academic collaboration to develop algorithms to ensure that as they scale up their operation and number of customers, they are able to produce the same high quality product, with freshness and fast turnover of stock being the key.  This algorithm would 'virtually' prepack customers’ orders in advance and give an order list for when the company is buying fish at the market.

Interface put the Glasgow-based company in touch with the Energy Academy at Heriot Watt University and, with support from a £5,000 Scottish Funding Council Innovation Voucher, the academic was able to provide solid data on the overall solar thermal panel system performance, indicating clear ideas where the design could be modified.

CM2000 received SFC Innovation Voucher and Follow On Innovation Voucher funding allowing them to work with Edinburgh Napier University to develop their existing technology and gather more data on the needs of vulnerable service users allowing them to assess the likelihood of the onset of illness which will support health care providers to improve the quality of their service. They are now working with the DHI to mine data crossing the boundary between health and social care.
