Biosciences Knowledge Transfer Network SPARK Awards

General Information:
The Biosciences Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) is pleased to announce a new call for up to fifteen Biosciences KTN SPARK Awards. The deadline for submission is Midnight 3rd September 2010. SPARK Awards are a means to encourage new collaborations between the research community and Small & Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs). The grants, which are of a fixed value of £5,000, will be paid to the research partner to tackle a problem relevant to the SME. The collaboration supported by a SPARK award can comprise almost any defined piece of work by the research partner for the industrial partner, such as a student project, data analysis, technical consultancy, a feasibility study or literature review.

Full guidance notes are available via the Biosciences KTN website. Please click on the link below and select the ‘Register' button on the login panel at the left-side of the page. Once you have registered you can access groups (such as the SPARK call) which are restricted to those who have registered with the website. To access full details of the call please click on the ‘Groups' tab and select 'SPARK Awards' and select ‘Join this group'.
Eligibility:
Projects must be in one of the four market sectors addressed by the Biosciences KTN, namely Animal Breeding & Animal Health, Food Technology and Manufacture, Industrial Bioscience, and Plants and Crops.
