Toshiba Medical Visualization and Lux DS

Toshiba Medical Visualization Systems Europe, Ltd (TMVS): TMVS in Edinburgh is a key part of Toshiba Medical Systems Corporation's global R&D network and is responsible for design and development of cutting edge products and technology for use in medical imaging equipment.
Interface worked with SINAPSE and Toshiba to develop a successful staff exchange programme, where they can tap into the expertise available with clinical and academic groups developing new technologies in the brain imaging field.

Benefits: The benefits for both parties are clear. University researchers can see how their research is productised within an industry environment, building awareness of the tough requirements involved with commercial software, whilst the company can explore with researchers how many different technologies, techniques and approaches can be used to develop images that may result in new or improved clinical diagnosis.

LUX DS: LUX DS is a division of Scottish technology development house, LUX Innovate Ltd, specialising in the development of novel applications in the field of dentistry and oral health. LUX DS is currently working to create a new tool for dental diagnostics, which incorporates an imaging system.

The company developed a prototype that generates data in the form of images. But with a limited knowledge of image analysis, they required further expertise in this field, so Interface linked LUX DS with SINAPSE. SINAPSE worked with the company to provide a series of tutorials to help LUX DS understand the images and provide deeper analysis.

Benefits: The insights and instruction provided by SINAPSE have been invaluable to LUX DS to help us to fully capitalise on the benefits of our new prototype and maximise its potential.
